This article describes how to post live content on your Instagram page using Ozolio's "Event Publishing" feature.

 

Before publishing live content on Instagram for the first time:

• Check the "Event Publishing prerequisites and requirements".
• Ensure that you have a business account on Instagram.

STEP 1: Create a Live Video post on Instagram:

• In your Instagram home, click the New post icon and select Live video.

 

• A pop-up will appear, and you must add a title to your post and select your target audience. Once done, click on Next.
  

 

• On the next pop-up, copy the Stream URL and Stream key. You will need these for Step 2. Do not close this window.

 

STEP 2: Create a "Target URL" for the Ozolio Publisher.

To convert the information you copied from Instagram Live Video into a format suitable for the Ozolio Publisher, you should merge the Stream URL with the Stream key.

 

Below is an example of the information you will copy from Instagram:

Stream Key: 18041711459515974?s_bl=1&s_fbp=sin2-1&s_prp=hkg1-2&s_sw=0&s_tids=1&s_vt=ig&a=Ab1zST2Z_OW6AN66gs4INI8e

Stream URL: rtmps://edgetee-upload-hkg1-2.xx.fbcdn.net:443/rtmp/

 

Then the information you need for the Ozolio Publisher is:

Target RTMP URL: rtmps://edgetee-upload-hkg1-2.xx.fbcdn.net:443/rtmp/18041711459515974?s_bl=1&s_fbp=sin2-1&s_prp=hkg1-2&s_sw=0&s_tids=1&s_vt=ig&a=Ab1zST2Z_OW6AN66gs4INI8e

 

STEP 3: Create and start the Ozolio Publisher.

• Open a new tab and sign in to your Ozolio Dashboard.
• Open the Publishers tab.
• Click the + Add Publisher button.
• In the "Publisher Name," give the publisher a name.
• In the "Default Provider," select "Other."
• In the "Default Camera," select the camera you want to publish.
• Click Add Publisher.

• In the Publisher Settings, set the Broadcast Type to "Temporary Event", click Save Changes, and then Close.

• Find the new publisher in the list and click Start Broadcast.
  

• On the following dialog box, click Next.

 

• On the following dialog box, enter "Target RTMP URL", which you've created in STEP 2, and click "GO LIVE".

 

• If the broadcast has been started successfully, you will see the following message:
  

 

STEP 4: Start the broadcast on Instagram.

• Go back to the Instagram Live Video pop-up.
• Make sure the preview panel on the left shows your live stream.
• Click the button "GO LIVE".

• Make sure that your persistent broadcast goes online.

 

NOTE: Instagram provides an inverted aspect ratio for mobile devices and may likely crop your live video feed. For example, if the original video stream's resolution is 1280x720 (16:9), Instagram will crop this to 720x1280 (9:16).
